Investigation of water samples under the microscope

I am back to my experiments and investigation of water samples under the microscope. At the beginning of the project I asked two of my teachers to wright their names on the piece of paper by their hand, so did I. I attached each name to the individual  jar filled up with water and left it for a while.Then I took 3 containers with 4 sections each and filled each section of the containers with 2,5 ml water sample out of each individual jar. Each container was labelled by individual name too. Then I frozen them and investigated under the microscope. The first set of pictures are not clear, I am just learning how to use the  Canon camera attached to the microscope. I prepared another set of samples. Pictures of further investigation will be represented on my blog later. Photographs of the first investigation are represented below:

In one of the Ian’s samples a picture of Alien has appeared; and in one of the Gary’s samples a picture of dinosaur or a dragon could be seen. I cannot find a connective line between  teachers personalities and pictures appeared in the frozen water sample. Possibly teachers themselves would find the connection. In one of my samples the torso of a human skeleton could be identified. I wander, is that because I had a long term of studying Anatomy in the past?

Words with negative meaning were attached to the water sample

In my FMP proposal form I mentioned to attach  words with negative and positive meaning to the jars with water samples. I investigated the water out of the jar with negative words: bad and ugly; and also out of the jar, which was placed on the window ledge in the college studio. As some students do not control their language and swear a lot, I thought it was a suitable environment for the experiment. So the picture in frozen water samples was unstructured rather then structured. I hardly could find any pattern that catches my view and attention. However, as I promised, I am publishing it. I would like to emphasise that these photographs are genuine and taken while investigating under the microscope! They are represented below:

The word Aesthetics was attached to the water sample

The same people were asked to write the word Aesthetics on the piece of paper with their name on it. The individual jar of water was labelled with it. See the patterns of frozen water samples below:

Summary:

With Gary’s Aesthetics under the microscope the emphasis could be made on description, such as: calm, friendly and abstract. Ian’s Aesthetics I could describe as abstract and bubbling with high density. My Aesthetics under the microscope has a character shape and some abstract elements.

On this positive note I am finishing my experiments with water for this project and will be finalising my work, as the deadline is soon. However, I will be developing my skills in using equipment I have (microscope with attached Canon camera) to be able to produce a better quality work in the future. Unfortunately, I could not capture some beautiful patterns of frozen water, which I have seen under the microscope by myself. The ice melts extremely fast. Possibly, I should think of buying the high quality digital video camera that could be attached to the microscope and transfer pictures directly to the computer.
