I wish I’d done that

These are the links to the animation I am fascinated with:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2LFI6abQI4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2LFI6abQI4&feature=player_embedded

The animation '”Telemiscommunication” represents multimedia pictures integrated one into another. It is meaningful, dynamic and well combined animation.I depicted this film because it is close to the ideas that persist in my mind ,but I am not ready to represent them ,as my technical skills have not reached yet the required level to complete the task. There is a lot more to discover!Never the less, I make my first steps towards illustrating my thoughts by learning and practicing After Effect Animation skills.I discovered that creating the moving images makes me more happy rather then creating just static images. The animation in my opinion is representational and entertaining at the same time.It could give a better impression of expressed thoughts, as it is more perceptible due to combination of sequential images, music and written or pronounced words. Also It could combine a lot of styles and media in one go, which gives opportunity to demonstrate different skills and knowledge. It could be as entertaining or as educational as needed in accordance to the brief; either created by yourself or given to you by client. My aim is to gain a good skills in After Effect Animation.

“animation is not the art of drawings that move but the art of movements that are drawn.”

Also I have to improve the skills in using Illustrator and Photoshop to get to the higher level ,in terms of creating sequential images.Collage and Painting are the methods I also pay attention to.In some cases the integrated 3D object gives a good depth to the picture and emphasising the elements of design within the composition. The Subconscious Drawing I am planning develop further to get to the stage when I do not have to concentrate to be relaxed. The meditation techniques should be achieved in order to gain a positive higher results.I should improve in terms of making decision in choosing media and working less chaotically in this case.

1,2,3 Advice

1.   As I like integrating 3D objects into 2D picture I should develop this skills further and  create my style of working. It could be Collage combined with Painting.

2. The technique of subconscious drawing could be used to get a quick idea, in terms of developing it further into better quality picture using an appropriate media.

3. I should make my decision about which media I have to use for particular task at early stage of developing the image.

I came to this conclusion after having a conversation with our teacher-lecturer at Stockport College Mr Spicer about my working method. We agreed that I have to structure the way of approaching the idea and clarifying my thoughts.I like creating images with underlying meaning but this meaning not always understandable for others. My aim is to achieve a certain level of visual communication to make my thoughts accessible for others and images will appear clearer.

Discussion Forums

Throughout this year we had a number of Discussion Forums. In those forums we have raised some actual questions about applying our art skills and gained knowledge on practical business;about how we feel and how we fit into the given brief;how we could improve our skills by attending as many as possible exhibitions, reading books and listening to the radio programs about Art and interviews of artists. In accordance to these discussions I have concluded that successful integration into the society as an artist depends on the level of comprehension of individual role within a society. The artist should be aware of what happening in the World to be able to response in an appropriate way, in terms of forming the opinion, making it perceptible for others ,or inducing others to make their own opinion ; reflecting it in  the Art Work and displaying it to the mass. This type of responsibility and  duties the Artist is facing in order to participate in social life.

Creative review

My working method at the moment is Deductive.I collect a lot of reflected ideas and then throw away those are not so good or do not quite fit into the required task.Eventually I select the best one that hits the requirement. Also I use a lot of  different techniques and media,I experiment a lot and explore the areas of Art quite chaotically at this stage. The target would be to develop the Inductive method of working which includes inducing the right idea first, that hits requirements and then realising this chosen idea without trying chaotically the different techniques or the enormous number of media and styles. This should safe my time and make my work more planned and more representational.I should develop my own style of representing the idea.I like integrating 3D objects into 2D picture.I think,Collage and Painting should be integrated one into another and used for creating animation. That how I feel at this stage of my development as an artist.

Kinetic Sculptures is another trend I possibly feel passionate for.I  like integrating  kinetic elements into the composition.Jean Tinguely is one of the artists I admire. He creates kinetic sculptures:

This is my Kinetic Sculpture                                               This is my Animated picture

There are some Optical Art images in my Portfolio. This area of art will become more available for me, if I improve my Photoshop and Illustrator skills.I think digitally I could develop a lot more interesting Op Art images rather then doing it by hand:

digitally into the Op Art Image.

In summary, I would like to say that I am going to be a multimedia artist. The Interactive Cross Pathway  job would have been ideal ,as I never will get bored and there will always be something to achieve while working on final outcome.

The book I recently red

The book I recently red was about interaction  between the individual inner and outer experiences in the process of personal or professional development.

“A development was seen by the psychologist Piaget(1952) as a gradual move towards greater complexity,as a person integrates inner and outer experiences, through assimilating and accomodating to change”.

Articles and other World News An interesting  opinion about the controversial structure of relation and interaction within the  society  between  the Art World  and business itself  revealed in the article “A sad reflection on the art world”: http://www.theartnewspaper.com/articles/A-sad-reflection-on-the-art-world/28099
Second, since the super-rich who buy the most expensive contemporary art have been most  immune to the financial crisis, and since they also use art as a hedge against the movement of other investments, the top levels of the market have appeared relatively unaffected. The vulgar business of flaunting consumption goes on, while around it everything has changed.”
“Hickey points to the disappearance of the middle class, who leave behind the super-rich and a courtier class, including those unfortunate enough to write about art. The evaporation of the Euro-American middle class, as its professions are automated or outsourced, is one of the great developments of our age, and it has been greatly accelerated by the financial crisis. It attacks not just art but the roots of liberal democracy as the class that defended the system is disenfranchised by it.”

Art world stunned: Second ‘Mona Lisa’ appears to be authentic

“Last year, art experts claimed that Leonardo da Vinci completed a version of the Mona Lisa some ten years prior to that of the famous Mona Lisa painting which hangs in the Louvre in Paris. The original Mona Lisa was...” http://www.examiner.com/video/mona-lisa-leonardo-s-earlier-version http://www.examiner.com/article/art-world-stunned-second-mona-lisa-appears-to-be-authentic “The original Mona Lisa was thought to be the only portrait of Lisa Gherardini (aka Lisa del Giocondo) ever created by the artist, The painting in question, dubbed the Isleworth Mona Lisa, is slightly larger than the famous portrait and has been the subject of debate as to its authenticity, but new revelations may finally end the debate that has continued since the painting's discovery a century ago. According to the Feb. 13, Guardian, “New tests on a painting billed as the original version of the Mona Lisa have produced fresh proof that it is the work of Leonardo, a Swiss-based art foundation has said.” Mona Lisa: Leonardo's Earlier Version Mona Lisa: Leonardo's Earlier Version The tests were conducted at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology by a specialist in “sacred geometry.” Italian geometrist Alfonso Rubino. who had previously made extended studies of the geometry of Leonardo's Vitruvian Man [a sketch of a youth with arms and legs extended] after studying the reported copy concluded that the Isleworth portrait “matched Leonardo's geometry and must be his.”

Another pessimistic thoughts about today art reflected in this article:

http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/doonan/2012/11/art_basel_why_i_m_not_going_hint_it_s_because_the_modern_art_world_is_the.html
“Freud said the goals of the artist are fame, money, and beautiful lovers. Based on my artist acquaintances, I would say this holds true today. What have changed, however, are the goals of the art itself. Do any exist?”

I am fascinated with the Hayward Gallery's Light Show exhibition: Installations by more than 20 international artists, it looks great:

I am planning to visit this exhibition in London soon.

That looks interesting too:

This exhibition represents recreated famous art work using makeup as a media:

Trip to the Palace Theatre in Manchester
13/04/2013  I went to the Palace Theatre with my child to see the musical Lion King. The show was amazing! The colourful costumes with kinetic mechanisms and decoration were most exciting and fascinating. I enjoyed the show very much as it was useful in terms of observing a newish technology in using lights and  a costume design trend in this particular show was fantastic.

Trip to London 19-21/04/2013

I had an exciting journey to London this weekend! I managed to catch in my view Marathon, visited a few museums such as: Madame Tussauds,Pick Me Up Exhibition at Somerset House, Natural History Museum and Southbank Centre Light Show: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/culturepicturegalleries/9835243/The-Hayward-Gallerys-Light-Show-exhibition-Installations-by-more-than-20-international-artists.html#?frame=2465500).
I was amazed by wax sculptures of celebrities at Madame Tussauds Museum. The friendly atmosphere at Pick me Up exhibition with opportunity to observe the process of screen printing with a lot of activities for children enhanced our day out. The genius representation of a simple ideas in a sophisticated way at the Light Show was very entertaining.

Briefs received from my son

I keep receiving briefs from my child for the projects that flow in parallel with the main degree program. One of the projects I worked  recently on was the World Book Day Celebration at child’s school. I was asked to create a costume that reflects my child’s favourite book character. The photo is represented below:

The costume is made out of cardboard box. The Head Light and moving eyes are manually operated. The crane spins itself as child moves.
